How do I find the right college for me?
Take a step in the right direction and do your homework before choosing a college or university. You can’t place your hopes and dreams for a future career in a school just because you’re a fan of their football team! How can you best choose the school that’s right for you?
-
Here are some tips…
- Talk to a Career Coach
- Schedule campus tours of potential schools and make the most of it. Before you go, talk with an advisor on the phone and try to schedule a face-to-face meeting during your visit. Tour the buildings where you’ll be taking classes and try to steal a few minutes with professors and current students. Also, take the time to meet with someone in the school’s financial aid office. A tour is your opportunity to learn all that you can about the school – don’t miss a chance!
- PREPARE, PRACTICE, REPEAT! While some schools offer standardized test preparation, there are many resources available to help get you ready for testing. The North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence (NACEE) offers preparation for the ACT and Graduation Exam, as well as financial aid information. See the NACEE section of the Resource Guide for more information.
