I need to upgrade the skills of my workforce.
Workforce development is one of the key areas that Alabama really focuses on. There are workforce skills training and workforce recruitment programs available from state-level and local organizations. The following are the main workforce development programs available in Decatur and Morgan County..
The Decatur Career Center provides avenues to secure funding for training workers:
- WIA On-The-Job Training (OJT) Program
This program gives individuals an opportunity to learn job skills and allows employers to train new employees while saving money on training costs. During this program you will work with a service representative to develop a training program that defines the training objectives and goals of the trainee(s). You make all of the hiring decisions and tailor all training to meet your needs. You may receive up to 50% reimbursement of hourly wages to pay a trainee. This reimbursement serves as an incentive to encourage employers to hire individuals who do not have all of the required skills for a particular job. - WIA Incumbent Worker Training Program
If your company is struggling to remain competitive in the global market, you may be able to take advantage of the WIA incumbent worker training program. This program provides funding for customized employee training to upgrade the work skills of current full-time, permanent employees. Businesses may use public or private training depending on the nature of the training.
